Dear Mr. Cochran,
I just wanted to personally contact you (and Peter), as this issue is very close to my heart. My late grandfather, Lloyd Rogers, was a big fan of Peter's work and met him on several occasions, once with 2-year-old me in tow! That day (though I don't remember it) was when I got my autographed copy of The Last Unicorn. My grandfather also wrote Cricket magazine (which I read when I was younger and which he bought me the subscription to) to ask them to ask Peter for a short-story contribution to the magazine. I still have the copy of the letter that Cricket sent Peter (they cc'd my grandfather and it was passed down to me when he died) and it's with all of my cherished childhood things.
I've already purchased a copy of the new 25th anniversary DVD through your website, and signed up for the email updates. If there is anything else at all that I can do to help, please let me know. I may not be able to help in a very big monetary way, but I can definitely rally support here in the Sacramento area, and I have great organizational skills. Thank you so much for your efforts on Peter's behalf!
Sincerely,
Megan Scroggins nee Rogers
I wasn't really expecting an answer, just wanted to make sure my voice was heard. Much to my surprise (and excitement), I checked my email this morning and saw this:

How wonderful to hear from you! Do please write me directly - xxxxx@xxx.xxx - or call me at (XXX) XXX-XXXX, my cell phone. Your grandfather was one of the gentlest souls I've ever known, and I'd love to talk with you about him, and about yourself as well. Thank you for writing!
All my best,
Peter
Yes, I blanked out contact info....just in case. But I'm so excited! My dad and I are going to try to go to the Berkeley Writer's Club meeting in Oakland on the 20th as he's going to be a speaker there - here's the link. I wrote him back and said that I normally don't just write people out of the blue like that, but that my grandfather must have given me a nudge from beyond.
