Out with the old, in with...

...well, probably more of the old, if I'm being honest.

So, first, Christmas recap: I got Rilo Kiley's Under the Blacklight CD, the Victor Borge DVD I wanted (from the old VHS tape my parents used to have -- it has all his great routines!), season 1 of WKRP on DVD, the new biography of Walt Disney that I wanted, Pirates 3 (yay!) and The Long Way Home, the first 5 Buffy the Vampire Slayer comics of "season 8" in trade paperback form. I just read #6 and #7(Faith! Giles!), #8 and #9 are in the mail to me, and #10 gets released tomorrow....then I'll be all caught up and have to wait until February for a new one. Sad.

Oh, yeah, and John & I managed to watch the entire series of Buffy on DVD in about 6 months. I didn't watch it when it was on TV, but after watching & loving Firefly, I figured I'd give it a shot. Yeah...hooked now. Thanks, Joss.

The comics? It was weird - I'd never read comic books before, so it took me a while to figure out how to read them...I kept not knowing who was talking to whom, or what was going on -- made even more fun by the comics (at least the first set) having that same ironic-segue-quick-cut feel between scenes. A little disorienting, to say the least...

Okay, new year started today. I went to see National Treasure: Book of Secrets with my family, which was awesome -- not least because there was a hilarious Goofy short before the movie involving Goofy hooking up a home theater system (my husband installs home theater systems for a living; needless to say, I was in tears, I was laughing so hard). Also, Prince Caspian trailer! Whee! I swear, my list of movies to see next this year is getting freakin' huge.

Then, I went to Dixon to sing at a wedding -- the church choir I'm in, Schola Cantorum, was hired to sing at this woman's wedding for $3000. It was nice, including the terrified moments I spent sightreading over Marilyn's shoulder because I only got page one of the Ave Maria we were singing. Awesome.

Also, I'm super excited because I get to see Billy Joel in concert in February when he comes to Sacramento! I got tickets for my husband and I to go for his birthday...soooooo excited!

Um...I think that's all for now...happy new year, everyone!
