Stupid LJ. Stupid power outage.

Ahem.

Okay, so all Harry Potter-related hysteria aside, my weekend was still incredibly hectic. Jessica and I went over to Elizabeth's on Saturday to watch Die Hard and The Fifth Element, neither of which she had seen (so therefore we had to remedy that immediately). Then, we came back to the house to change and go see the production of Les Miserables at Music Circus - the first professional production in the round anywhere, ever!

It was spectacular. First of all, they had the best cast I have ever seen or heard - the only thing that would have made it better would be if Colm Wilkinson himself was playing Jean Valjean - but everyone was great. Andrea Rivette, who played Fantine, was drop-dead fantastic. I have never, ever heard anything so spine-chillingly beautiful as her "I Dreamed A Dream".

And the big 'vive la revolution' numbers ("Do You Hear the People Sing", "One Day More", etc) were staged so that there were cast members on the stage, facing out in all directions, and cast members in the aisles, facing in toward the stage, making the audience, in essence, a part of the production. I was bawling throughout the entire second act, practically.

Ah, the barricade. Here's a good picture of what it looked like. There were really four little mini-barricades set up around the stage that the actors could climb into, over and through.

And then, on Sunday, we went to see the Harry Potter: OotP movie. Which I'll review next time - it's getting to be my bedtime!
