The early scripts I saw were with the approval of Card. I think they were even written by him. And oh, the horrors. I mean, seriously. Either Dap or Graff was a woman, and the audience knows what's going on the whole time, instead of leaving it as a big emotional surprise at the end. The shock of discovering along with Ender what was going on was the most memorable part of reading the book for the first time. If that's taken away, I think the movie would lose a lot.
