Playing With Fire (Silver Dragons, Book 1) by Katie Macalister
Genre: Fantasy/Romance
Pages: 352
From the Amazon description:
Gabriel Tauhou, wyvern of the silver dragons, has found the one woman who can withstand his fire. Too bad May Northcott is already bound to a demon lord. But when the demon orders May to steal one of Gabriel’s treasures—an immensely important relic of all dragonkin— Gabriel has to decide which to protect: his love or his dragons.
Having read Macalister's Aisling Grey, Guardian series and loved it (this is a spinoff series), I was enjoying this look at the same world from a different perspective. Apart from a little too much hot and heavy action at times (those dragons and their mates!), I did enjoy it a lot. May is a doppleganger, a shadow "twin" created by Cyrene, a naiad, who gave up a character trait (her common sense) to a demon lord in exchange. There are a lot of fun exchanges between May and Cyrene, and it was interesting to get an outside perspective on Aisling (she's in this book in a supporting role).
I definitely wouldn't start with this book, though. Get You Slay Me and read all the Aisling Grey books, then pick this one up. It's a fun ride, a perfect summer book. Now back to my serious book...Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison.
