Day 1 - Your fav song
Day 2 - Your fav movie
Day 3 - Your fav TV program
Day 4 - Your fav book

This isn't nearly as agonizing as the last few. There are only two books that can vie for "favorite" in my head:

Little Women, Louisa May Alcott -- I've read this book so many times; it's like comfort food to me. And if I don't have the book handy, I'll just pop in the movie (the 1949 version, with June Allyson as Jo and Elizabeth Taylor as Amy).

Ender's Game, Orson Scott Card -- I first read this book when I was probably 11 or 12. I've reread it countless times since, and I recommend it to everyone I know. Card captures the essence of the "precocious child/loner" so well, and the story is heavy and real the way so few stories are nowadays.

I tried reading the book when I was in middle school. I thought it was boring. I've been thinking about trying it again (after I've finished the ever-growing pile on my nightstand). I don't think I've seen the '49 version but I love the Winona Ryder version -- I have the DVD and the soundtrack.

I do like the Winona Ryder version. I think it's funny -- they pick different scenes from the book for that one, so I've always wanted to splice the two movies together and get the whole book that way! That would require...way more free time than I have, though. ;)

:-) Sounds like a cool project, though. Is the June Allyson version on DVD?

Why, yes! Yes it is! (http://www.amazon.com/Little-Women-June-Allyson/dp/B00009RDGF/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dvd&qid=1263576922&sr=8-2)

Also: Peter Lawford as Laurie.

I nearly put Little Women as the "fictional book" then decided against it. It's definitely one of my favorites, especially now that I also own Jo's Boys and Little Men.

I love it even more now that I've watched a few documentaries on Louisa May Alcott (and realized how much the book is based on her life), and read some of her thrillers and romances.
