goodbye, sweet America!
Nov. 20th, 2008 03:28 pmeHarmony.com, the online dating site, just settled a lawsuit over not offering its services to the gay community and now has to create a dating site for gays.
And yes, in the comments to that article you'll find people who are happy that eHarmony is finally being called out for being "discriminatory".
Let me see if I can provide a good analogy. This is like a Wiccan suing a Catholic bookstore for refusing to sell Wicca-related products...and winning. Or a gay man suing a strip club for only having female dancers. And winning.
It would be different if there were no exclusively same-sex online dating sites or if there were some sort of law preventing someone from operating a same-sex online dating site. That's discriminatory.
But if you come across a company that doesn't offer the services you need, the answer is to not patronize that company and look for one that does offer the services you need. Not rocket science, people!
