So...we moved into our new office last weekend, and to make a long story short, the phones still don't work.

To tell the long story in its entirety, well..I may have to split it up by day.

Saturday (6/14): The movers were supposed to have stuff brought to the new place by 1pm so I could start hooking up computers. I got there at 1 - no movers. They had two trucks and two crews, and rather than alternating them, they decided to load up both trucks at once. Also, apparently they were dumping all the computers into ONE GIANT CARDBOARD BOX. Rather than the nice, padded carts they had promised us. Awesome. So there was nothing for me to hook up so I went home.

Monday (6/16): I got to work at 8am and there was stuff. Everywhere. First things first - no internet, no phones. I spend most of the morning lugging boxes, computers, monitors, and other random stuff around, and pulling wires out of patch panels for the phones. Oh, and running network/phone cables into the sales cubicles. Lots of crawling around on the floor. On the plus side, one of the other IT guys took me to lunch at one of the sixteen kajillion Korean BBQ places in the area. Did I mention I made the mistake of wearing flip-flops? So we get the servers up and running and the internal network working; at least people can access their files now. Still no phones or internet.

Tuesday (6/17): We get word that AT&T (who was supposed to hook up the T1 line) messed up and hooked it up at the building we were going to rent, but ended up not renting. Wrong building. No phones or internet all day. I spend the day hooking up salespeople's computers and at some point I actually get to unpack my own boxes. One of which (my files) got emptied into one of the file cabinets. So I have to go looking through random file cabinets for my own files. Also, we had to run network/phone cables through the ceiling. So much fun.

Wednesday (6/18):
Before work, I had to go to Sac State and put up flyers for the job fair we're doing on Tuesday. So my first hour of work is walking around campus. And trying to wheedle someone in the University Union to put up flyers. Also, I had a voicemail on my cell phone from the owner of the company I work for - timestamped 4am. Asking me to connect the internal phone system when I get in, so we can at least intercom each other rather than having to run up and down the stairs all day long (which I end up doing anyway). So when I finally get to the office, I have to get a phone with a display to figure out which port goes to what extension so I can patch the internal phones together. And then I have to crawl around on the floor some more connecting people's computers. Also, I brought my laptop and Sprint connect card so I could actually connect to the internet to get the email.

Thursday (6/19): The email isn't working. Why? Because the domain registration expired because the hosting company either didn't rebill the card or billed the wrong card, or the people that run our company didn't update their card information. So we have to reregister our email domain and re-setup the email boxes. Still no phones or internet. AT&T made it out in the afternoon to hook up the T1 line, and Integra (the internet provider) is scheduled to come out on Friday morning. Meanwhile, it's deadline for the paper and I actually have to do some normal work. I finish unpacking my boxes. Oh, did I mention my period started while I was lugging monitors out of storage to test them to make sure the moving company didn't damage any of them? Fun = carrying heavy things and crawling under desks while having cramps of doom.

Friday (6/20): Internet working! Phones still not working. Something's messed up somewhere and the guy who does our internal phone system isn't calling us back. Also, it's deadline for the paper. Things actually go pretty smoothly until about 3pm, when the internet goes down for no apparent reason. For about an hour and a half. Apparently, Integra was "testing the circuit" and managed to break something. They either fix it or it fixes itself at about 4:30. The rest of the evening goes okay, until I get a phone call from John. Apparently, we owe back taxes for 2006 (first I'm hearing about it, but I don't do the taxes) so our stimulus check got applied to our back taxes.

At this point, I want to crawl into the corner and curl up into a ball and not come out ever. I finally finish with work, drive straight to the grocery store, and buy a bottle of tequila and a bottle of margarita mix. I go home, drink approximately an entire pitcher of margaritas, and stumble into bed. It's a good thing I don't get hangovers...

And Monday is my last day at work before we leave for LA. Which means more crazy crazy fun. Stop the world, please. I'd like to get off! But we're going to see Get Smart tomorrow, so I'm looking forward to that.
