Ok, this entry will basically be me pointing at stuff and saying, "Look! Pretty!" Ready? Here we go.

Orson Scott Card is launching a webzine entitled "Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show." It sounds very cool, thanks to this excerpt from ISN's Zocolo Now news:

The current production schedule is quarterly, with columnists writing monthly. Each issue will contain a story set within Card's popular Ender's Game universe, though Card himself may not write each one. Card said that he considers new writers to be the lifeblood of the magazine, and Medicine Show will be accepting submissions from authors after the first issue appears. "We're paying 6 cents a word, up to $500, in the ballpark for a professional publication," he said. The first issue of Orson Scott Card's Intergalactic Medicine Show will debut Oct. 15.

Very excited and can't wait!! Eeee!

Thanks to Gilmore Girls, I've discovered a cool new (well, they're not new, per se, but new to me) band -- Pernice Brothers. Their stuff is very old/new, with Beach Boys-esque harmonies and lovely instrumentals, and great lyrics. I ordered their new CD, "Discover A Lovelier You", off Amazon. Reviews forthcoming!

Robert Iger takes over at Disney as Michael Eisner steps down unceremoniously today. Iger starts strong, trying to rebuild bridges that Eisner burned in his last months. Me, I'm crossing my fingers that this will be the first step to bringing back the Disney that I remember. Here's hoping, Mr. Iger!

And finally, the Supreme Court opens the new term with John Roberts leading the way. First up, Oregon's so-called "Death With Dignity" act and parental notification for minors seeking abortions. And, Bush's pick for Sandra Day O'Connor's replacement could come as early as next week. More finger-crossing from me.

Serenity? Was GREAT. I'll post a full review after the second viewing tonight, I think I need another one just to help me assimilate everything that happened. And I really want a sequel, or the return of the series. Please?

ETA: Here's Orson Scott Card's review of Serenity. No plot giveaways, just overall thoughts...and boy, am I impressed!

ETA (part 2): Behold a new, very addictive game. It's called Sudoku, and it's basically a magic square game. I've gotten my 'medium' average time to 9 minutes, 59 seconds to complete the puzzle, and still working on it! (Dad, this one's for you!)
